Celebrating the life of
Beverley Jean Heath
September 23, 1929 - February 01, 2010
Beverley was born in Los Angeles and lived in Long Beach. Surviving the 1933 earthquake they later moved to Alameda, CA. Graduating from Alameda HS, she entered San Francisco State University graduating with Honor in English & Journalism. Summer she worked in Yosemite. She then taught English at Oakland Tech HS, the toughest school in the area. Bob and Bev were married in 1953 and she moved to Honolulu and taught there. The kids came to school barefoot. She lived on Waikiki Beach at a time when only 3 buildings were taller than 3 stories. Royal Hawaiian, Moana and Edgewater Hotels. She flew home on a China Clipper, the trip took 14 hours. Bev then taught at Fresno HS. Her children, Sharolyn and Richard, were born in Fresno. Moving on to La Crescenta and later to Palos Verdes Rolling Hills, she was active in the Jr. Women's Club and Camp Fire Girls and taught an exercise class. In 1966 the Family moved East and drove to Connecticut so the kids would know their Grandma was a long way away. She loved the East settling in the woods of North Stamford with a creek, lake, and not another house in view. The Tennis Club was the joy of life and soon it was also skiing. A second home was built in Vermont, a spot she loved. When the children went off to College, Bev became a Travel Agent and soon had her own Agency, Heath Travel, Inc., and 12 people working for her. Over her life she toured every Continent except Antarctica, visited over 50 Countries, drove through every State and 35 National Parks, stayed in the top hotels around the World, cruised on ships of every size and type, and even took the Orient Express. Bev retired in 1994 and moved to our condo in Hilton Head while we built our home at The Landings. She loved tennis and golf. She was also the Supervisor of Results Printing at the 1996 Olympics in Savannah. If you asked her how life was, she would say "Wonderful!!!"
