Allan H. Eitel, Jr.

- Savannah - Allan H. Eitel, Jr., A.I.A., Architect, died February 9, 2010 at St. Joseph's Hospital. Mr. Eitel was born in Savannah, GA on June 7, 1932. He attended grammar school in Pooler and Porter Military Academy, and high school at Savannah High School. He graduated from the Georgia Tech School of Architecture in 1955. He was registered as a professional architect in 1966 after serving in the Air Force, and employment in Atlanta, Statesboro and Savannah.
Mr. Eitel practiced architecture in Savannah from 1968 until 1974. He was employed by the Corps of Engineers, from which he retired in 1994, and returned to private practice until 2002.
Mr. Eitel was a member of Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. He was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity, the Jaycees, the Civitan Club, the Ambucs and the American Institute of Architects and was president of the Savannah Georgia Tech Club in 1972 and 1973.
Mr. Eitel is survived by his wife, Gloria; son, David Eitel and daughter-in-law, Vicki; grandson, Andrew Eitel; granddaughter, Katherine Eitel all of Cumming, GA; daughter, Audrey Loverin and son-in-law, Robert; granddaughter, Lucye Loverin all of Roswell, GA; sister, Beverly Kennedy of Tybee Island, GA: sister, Joanna Berry of Marietta, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Julia and Jim Sergi of Freeport, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, February 11, 2010 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Funeral: 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 12, 2010 at Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church with The Reverend M. Creede Hinshaw officiating.
Burial: Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
