Audrey H. Roberts

Savannah- Mrs. Audrey H. Roberts, 88, entered into eternal rest Monday, March 2, 2010.
Born December 19, 1921 in Cobbtown, GA and lived most of her life in Savannah. She attended Claxton High School where she was Valedictorian of her graduating class. She went on to graduate from Draughon's Business College with honors. Mrs. Roberts retired from Men's Quality Shop in 1981 and spent the rest of her life as a homemaker. She devoted her entire life to her family and beloved pets. She was an avid reader who loved to sew and cook. Her favorite past times included fishing, bird watching, playing Scrabble and working crossword puzzles. She loved watching the Atlanta Braves and was a die hard Alabama football fan. She was a member of Bull Street Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.
The Lord graced us with our angel Audrey for 88 years and she will be missed deeply by all of her loved ones. Audrey lived her life with grace and dignity and inspired all who loved her.
She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Jeff Brown, of Bluffton, SC, Wylette and Alton Davis, of Savannah, and Naomi and Robert Ryan, of Savannah; two sisters, Dellorah Whickham and Modrea Collins; three brothers, Alvie Hackle, Ellie Hackle, and Jan Hackle; six grandchildren, Tammye Brown, Tonya Wood, Joseph Davis, Audrey Matthews, Robbie Ryan, Daniel Ryan; five great-grandchildren, and her faithful companions, Bridget and Holly, her "little darlings", Jerry, who she called her "Lassie", and Leo, the "little pistol".
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph W. Roberts, Jr.; brother, E.C. Hackle; sister, Geraldine Provence and her parents, Ernest C. and Mattie Lou Hackle.
The family will receive friends and family Thursday, March 4, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
A Private Graveside Service will be held at Gillisonville Baptist Church Cemetery.
Honorary Pallbearers will be her sons-in-law, Jeff Brown, Alton Davis, Robert Ryan and grandsons, Joseph Davis, Robbie Ryan and Daniel Ryan.
