As a mediocre high school basketball player, Coach Kintzing pushed me to be believe in myself and work harder and achieve more than I thought I could. He was a great teacher. He kicked our butts, taught us the power of hard work teamwork, and warmly appreciated our efforts. The lessons I learned from Coach have served me well in my career and all aspects of my life. My condolences to the whole family, especially Betsy.

I played football for Coach Kintzing while I was a student at Edgemont from 1959 to 1963. Caoch Kintzing was also my gym teacher during that same period as well as my coach for other sports. He always instilled in his players a sense of honor and fairness, that lesson and those values have served me well all my life. He was a role model before the phrase existed. The world is a lesser place for his passing. I can't walk on a field in late August without thinking of two a days, seeing Coach and hearing his words of encouragement.

To the Kintzing family, I just heard of Coach's passing. My condolences to all of you. He was a great basketball coach who also taught the lessons of life well. During his era, Edgemont was known for its competitiveness and winning games against teams that had more talent -- a sure sign of superior coaching. I hope all of you are doing well. I had the privilege of working with Dave at Bethesda Barn Builders. Dave was truly a joy to work with as he always had a positive out going manner and a fine sense of humor. He made the day fun. His warm, friendly, effervescent personality will be sadly missed but joyfully remembered.

I am so saddened to hear about Dave's passing. He and I both volunteered at Hospice House on Friday's so our paths crossed every week over the last 2 years. I always enjoyed chatting with him and I will miss him a lot - he could always bring a smile to my face. He truly enjoyed visting patients and getting them some 'ice cream' - that would always make his day and 'their day'. I will keep your entire family in my prayers.
