Mariodean Smith

Midway, GA- Mariodean Smith, 85, died Friday, April 16, 2010, at Memorial University Medical Center.
The Claxton native attended Candler School of Nursing and was a nurse for Dr. Charles E. Sax for many years. She was very active in the community and her church and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Walter W. Smith and her son, Ty H. Smith.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Anne Smith Shuman and Lee Shuman of Atlanta; four granddaughters, Shannon Shuman Martin, Angie S. Hutson, Meliza Smith Straehly, and Kristina Smith; great-grandchildren, Will and Callum Martin, Ansley and Emma Hutson, Lydia, Laci, and Lauren Straehly, and Talan Balthazor; her sister, Mary Frances Oliver of Glennville; seven step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, April 19, 2010, in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
