I met Anne only once. As new home owners on Tybee Island I was exploring the offerings of TAA, the theatre, and the art classes. Anne was very welcoming in her warm conversation. I learned of her illness when we returned for our yearly 'snow bird in retirement' visit. Members of the painting class were speaking of her with such kind words. It is clear to me that she met everyone with warm kindness and great energy. She will be greatly missed by so many. I send my sincere condolences to her family. May you find comfort in knowing that she was loved by so many.

Merch and I began our friendship at Rosemont College in 1952.All through the years, we have taken advantage of any opportunity to see each other, knowing that we had special ties. I loved her quick humor and her pragmatic approach to life's situations. In 2006, we co-chaired our Rosemont 50th Reunion. More recently, she visited for a weekend in November 2009. Soon after returning home, she called to say she had received a surprise diagnosis of lung and brain tumors. In characteristic style, she adopted a positive attitude, but to our sorrow, God had other plans for our dear friend. She was a favorite in our close-knit Rosemont group. She'll be a great welcomer when we get together again.
- Julie Fitzpatrick, Saint Johns, FL
Jim and Family, Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Ann was so full of life and love. We shall miss her and her wonderful smile.

How would it be possible not to remember Anne with great fondness-- my classmate at Rosemont, my pal and my roommate in Washington during a golden time on the canal with sports cars and canoes and in our apartment on Potomac street painted with the help of my State Department colleagues and the fun we had as our horizons widened. I am grateful for her love and friendship and her ties to our family. She is still a wonderful woman with a zest for life, kind and thoughtful. I am so happy we could maintain our friendship over big distances and replenish it with visits in Georgia and here. Thank you, Jim, for sharing her with us. Mike joins me in sending condolences to Anne's extended family.
- Eleanore Raven-Hamilton, Washington, DC
I will always remember when I closed on my Tybee home sold to me by Jim how Anne fixed us a picnic lunch to celebrate and brought me over a full sized, framed picture of a dolphin painted by Debbie Robinson. I knew no one on the whole island and this was my introduction to the kind of people here. When I brought Hardy Jones here for the fundraiser for the dolphins of Japan, who should show up right away to help me plan but Anne. And in her top hat as MC of the art auction, Anne's performance was one for the ages. She was spectacular in every way and I find it hard to grasp that that much life force has left. She is one I will always remember vividly.
- Muriel Lindsay, Tybee Island, GA
Anne was an old friend from her Washington, DC days. We both belonged to Hexagon, a charitable organization. She was a hard worker and knew how to share a laugh.

We will sincerely miss Anne, as everyone will, and we pray for Jim and the rest of the family to have strength and courage to continue loving and giving as they have.

I will truly miss such a wonderful and awesome lady, so strong a person, but a gentle woman. I always admired her and could only strive to be a 10th of what she was. We've lost a beautiful person, Heaven has gained another angel.

Anne is the spiritual bridge that will link many Montessorians here in Savannah. She has inspired many and her legacy will be the children who wake up each morning and want to come to school. She has taught us to 'worship the wonder'. Love & Peace Tanya

Jim, I can't tell you how sad I was to learn of Anne's passing. I know it difficult to loase a loved one, but take solace in the fact that death is not an end but a new beginning. Take care and God bless.

I worked with Anne for 18 months on Tybee; I was the City Manager and she was a Council Member. Though we didn't always agree, I admired her dedication to public service for the good of the entire island; a rare and valued quality in elected officials. Throughout all our times together, Anne was a person of grace, character, and integrity. We will miss her.

I always looked up to Anne with respect and admiration for all of her accomplishments in life. Her enthusiasm plus a no nonsense-approach was her winning combination. I shared with her a love and support of the arts and am forever changed from knowing her. My condolences to Jim and her family. I know how much she will be missed but thank God for Anne!

To Anne's Family, Mitch and I were so sorry to hear about Anne. I worked with her for many years at Charles Ellis and always admired her dedication and efforts to improve the school.

Dear Jim, and family, Anne was so special. We are honored to have been her friend and will miss her very much. Now that she's with the Lord, she no longer suffers. We hope you will take comfort in that.

Anne was an old friend from her Washington, DC days. We both belonged to Hexagon, a charitable organization. She was a hard worker and knew how to share a laugh.

Ann gave her all to the Tybee Arts Association and its members. We are glad to have called her and Jim 'friend.' Few we have known have been as loving in spirit.

Even though we did not know Jim and Anne that long, they made Kathy and I feel like we have known them forever. Jim and Anne were two special people that looked at life as a chance to live it to the fullest and to give back more than they received. We will sincerely miss Anne, as everyone will, and we pray for Jim and the rest of the family to have strength and courage to continue loving and giving as they have.

Anne's engaging smile and zest for life and her energy, that seemed endless, inspired me greatly. She believed in speaking up for the things that mattered to her and for those who couldn't always speak for themselves. She will be missed but her legacy in service will remain with us always. Blessings and prayers to Jim and family. Sincerely, Shirley Sessions Tybee

I will always remember Anne as a exceptional administrator who took young administrators, such as I was, under her wings. She was a wonderful resource, full of knowledge and strength. She was also a true advocate for children and doing what was necessary to meet their educational needs. She will be sadly missed but forever remembered.
