Bernard M. Flaherty
March 13, 1914 - June 15, 2010
Bernard M. Flaherty, 96, of Thunderbolt, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Hospice Savannah.
He was the son of the late Thomas Edmond Flaherty and Catherine McKenna Flaherty and was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Hodge Flaherty.
Bernie was born in Savannah and raised in the Old Fort area. He later moved to Thunderbolt where he lived for 60 years. He was a past member of the old Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church.
He retired from Union Camp Corporation in 1979. He was a graduate of Benedictine Military School and a member of the Benedictine Alumni Association. He was also a member of the St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee and the Irish Jasper Greens.
Bernie is survived by, Bernard E. Flaherty Harrilyn, of Statesboro, GA, Agnes F. Pinckney David, of Bluffton, SC, Michael J. Flaherty Joyce, of Richmond Hill, GA, Patricia F. Odom Joey, of Savannah, seven grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 17, 2010 with a Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m., at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 18, 2010 at St. James Catholic Church with The Reverend Mark Ross officiating.
Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers it is requested that donations be made to Benedictine Military School, 6502 Seawright Drive, Savannah, GA 31406, or Hospice Savannah, P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416.

Dear Agnes,Patty and all,we were so sorry to hear about Bernie.We were on vacation in Florida and returned on Sunday.Tom remembers old days at Union-Camp when he was a summer relief clerk and of course the many years thereafter at Irish functions.You will all be in our prayers.
