Jean O'Hayer Schroder

Savannah- Jean O'Hayer Schroder, 91, died peacefully on Thursday, July 8, 2010.

Affectionately known as "Cuz", she was born in Savannah, March 6, 1919 to William O'Hayer and Isabelle Paul O'Hayer. She was baptized at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist and attended St. Vincent's Academy. She met Charles John Schroder and they married at the Cathedral in 1939. They honeymooned by riding the Greyhound bus to New York City to attend the World's Fair. Charles joined the Navy during World War II and Jean did her part by working on Liberty ships in Savannah. In 1949 they moved to Macon and both worked with their flooring company. Many happy days were spent with friends at the Knights of Columbus and the Moose Club. Jean and Charlie moved to New Smyrna Beach in the 60's and owned and operated a flooring company. These were happy days with many friends and fun times.

Charlie and Jean returned to Savannah in 1996 and enjoyed being with family and old friends. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie.

She is survived by her daughter, Carole Cornett, and companion, Carlton White; son, Charles John Schroder, Jr. and wife, Jackie; grandson, John Keith Cornett, and wife, Sherry, their children, John Phillip and Quinn McKenna; granddaughter, Melissa Leigh Squires, and husband Sean, their daughter, Caroline Kay; granddaughter, Robyn Crick, and husband David, and their daughter, Samantha.

Visitation: 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, July 11, 2010 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel with a Rosary Service at 4:00 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 12, 2010 at St. James Catholic Church. Pallbearers will be Charles Schroder, Jr., Keith Cornett, Sean Squires, Carlton White, Jim Anderson, David Taylor, David Bennett, and Dale Willhite.

Burial: Bonaventure Cemetery.
