I just received word of Don's passing last night, Dec. 19. I first met Don in grade school in Romeo, Michigan and we were friends all the way through senior year. I attended Don's wedding and that was the last I ever saw of him. I am very sorry to learn of his passing. He was a good man with a sense of humor and a zest for life. He also had a very good head on his shoulders.

I met Don when I transferred into the City of Sav. Inspection's Dept. in 1996. He loved the people who worked for him and always had an encouraging word and a task. He boosted the Dept.'s morale that has never been matched. His encouraging words to me were doofes , and my return would be putz and grumpy old man. He was the perfect Walter Mathew. Don was a great friend and story teller. He lived life. Don's humor and advice will always live in my heart and mind.

Don and I met while working with the City of Savannah. I was part of a small group of friends that stayed together as our jobs went in different directions. Then by chance our personal roads ran into each other and we were inseparable from then on. I had met my soul mate along with my best friend. Our time together was cut too short but our love will always last. I will miss him every day although he will always be in my heart. I miss you Don. Your loving wife, Carol

I met Don when I started working at Building Safety for Chatham County. We seemed to hit it off soon after I met him. He was in the Navy and I was in the Marines. So he labled me as a dumb jar-head. He was a brilliant guy in so many areas. He was my closest friend, and his death rocked my world. I cant stop thinking about him. He was a great guy, and a close friend. I'll never forget him.

My thoughts and prayers are with you Carol. Don was a very special talented guy,his love for you showed in so many ways. His physical self has left, but his spirit and love will be with you always.
