I have known John for at least 37 years and have so many fond and memorable rememberances of him. For seven years, he and I worked in the same office building in New York. I remember those distinctive half boot shoes he wore because all I saw was his backside as he briskly and purposively walked to 55th and Park. He was the one who showed me how to walk the reverse direction from Grand Central Station down the railroad platforms, down the tracks and up to an exit on 51st street. He was a competitor beating me in tennis and golf regularly. He & I always, at least usually, beat Nick Huth and Bob Harrison in bridge. He taught me how to win and lose graciously and how to follow the rules of golf. He never asked for or permitted a mulligan or gave a short putt. Thank you John for being such a good friend and sharing your sense of humor. I look forward to the afterlife when we can enjoy a vodka on the rocks and play golf again at Sterling Farms or Pine Needles.
