Tybee Island, GA - Cornelius Jerome Dulohery, Jr., "Jerry," passed away at home on Saturday, September 11. 2010 after a long illness. Born on April 7, 1938 in Savannah, Georgia, he was the son of Cornelius and Mary Clare Dulohery. He was a graduate of Sacred Heart Catholic School, Benedictine Military Academy and Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Catholic Church before moving to Tybee Island 15 years ago when he joined St. Michael's Catholic Church.
In 1970, he co-founded Dulohery and Weeks, Inc., a consulting engineering firm which included offices in both Savannah and Charleston, SC. He was a past Director of the American Council of Engineering Companies, GA and served on the State Construction Industry Licensing Board, Division of Electrical Contractors.
He was an unpretentious man and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He served on the Board of the Savannah Chapter of Habitat for Humanity, St. James School Board and St. James Parish Council. He also volunteered for Inner City Night Shelter and Marriage Encounter, and helped to start Hope House of Savannah. He was a member of the Hibernian Society, the Nature Conservancy, and The Tybee Island Republican Club.
He loved the beauty of nature and enjoyed traveling. He greatly appreciated Tybee and its' gracious people. He was exceptionally uncomplaining during the six years of his illness, living each day to the fullest. He was deeply grateful for the unwavering loyalty and support of his friends.
He cherished his family who remained by his side throughout his illness. He is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Margaret Stegin Dulohery; his son Neil Dulohery of San Francisco, CA; his daughter Beth Dulohery of Augusta, GA; and his daughter Ann, her husband Timothy Morin, and his three beloved grandchildren, Hannah Burnsed and Timmy and Kevin Morin of Savannah, GA. He is also survived by his sisters; Clare Frew, Lucy Behr and Phine Dye, all of Savannah, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. James Catholic Church on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at 1:00 pm. A visitation and reception will follow immediately in the church parish center. All are invited.

Aunt Margaret & Family, On Saturday, our family lost one of the finest men that I have ever known. Uncle Jerry spent most of his life serving God and others but was so humble about everything that he did for people. During these last six years, he showed such amazing strength and faith. I am so saddened by his death but glad that his struggle is over. He was a fun-loving and gracious man. His laughter and smile will forever be in my heart. My prayers are with all of our family during this time of sorrow. Love, Eileen
