Ruth Cubbedge Shuman

Cordele, Georgia - Ruth Cubbedge Shuman, 82, died September 15, 2010. She was born in Screven County, Georgia, daughter of the late Otis and Laura Cubbedge. She lived in Savannah for 65 years and was a member of Cresthill Baptist Church. Mrs. Shuman worked for Union Camp for 15 years and later worked for Calvary Baptist Church Daycare in the nursery where she loved working with the small children. Mrs. Shuman was well known in Savannah for her 15 layer chocolate cakes and was featured in the Food Section of the Savannah Morning News.

Surviving are her loving husband of sixty-five years, Henry Ford Shuman, a daughter and son-in-law, Diane S. and Dupree Buffington of Simpsonville, SC; sons and daughters-in-law, H. Ted and Francine Shuman of Cordele, GA; Donnie E. and Veva Shuman of Savannah; David R. and Diane Shuman of Savannah; sisters, Maudine Johnson and husband, Kenny of Garfield, GA; Maxie Mosley of Lyons, GA; RosaLee Dwelle and husband, Harry of Millen, GA; Doris Claxton of Daytona Beach, FL; brothers, Ed Cubbedge and wife, Katherine of Rincon, GA; George Cubbedge and wife, Joan of Buhl, ID; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 17, 2010 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

Funeral: 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 18, 2010 in the Hodgson Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors.

Burial: Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Remembrances: Cresthill Baptist Church, 9120 Whitefield, Ave., Savannah, GA 31406.
