Clifford Rudolph Hepper
October 10, 1922 - November 02, 2010
Savannah – Clifford Rudolph Hepper passed away on November 2, 2010.
Clif was born October 20, 1922 in Guttenberg, New Jersey to Rudolph and Nellie Hepper. He graduated from New Jersey State Teachers College in education and then enlisted in the army during W.W.II and served in Central Europe and Northern France. During his service he was in the A.S.T.P. Civil Engineering Program at Penn State University. After service he returned to Penn State where he earned a degree in Civil Engineering. While at Penn State he met his wife, Jean Lois Kincaid, and they were married on July 5, 1947. He was a member of Chi Epsilon engineering honor society.
His business career started with Texaco in Philadelphia. Later he moved to Atlantic Richfield. While at ARCO he progressed through numerous positions in Pittsburgh, Chicago, and Los Angeles. His final position at ARCO was as President of ARCO Polymers and a Corporate Vice President in Philadelphia. He retired in 1985 and Clif and his wife, Jean, moved to Skidaway Island. He and Jean became active members of the Landings – playing golf, tennis and bridge. Clif was on the first Board of the Landings Club.
Throughout his life Clif was active in the lives of his family. He was a leader of Little League, Boy Scouts, Indian Guides and numerous other activities in which his three sons were involved. Later in life he was always delighted to travel to watch his grandchildren in their many activities. Every year
Clif was always sure to take numerous family members to Penn State to watch his Nittany Lions play football. He worked hard to keep the family close and his loving example will be cherished.
Clif had been active in all the churches he has attended in his many moves. He was particularly interested in teaching high school and senior bible classes. He was an elder of the Presbyterian Church and was most recently a member of S.I.U.M.C.
Clif is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jean Kincaid Hepper; three sons Douglas Clifford Hepper of Minneapolis, Clifford David Hepper of Nashville, Jeffrey Kincaid Hepper of Houston, three daughters-in-law, seven grandchildren, two granddaughters-in-law, one great granddaughter and myriad friends here in Savannah and all along the path of his life.
A memorial service will be held at the Skidaway Island United Methodist Church at 11am on Saturday November 6. A reception will be held at the church immediately after the service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to either the American Cancer Society with dedication to lung cancer research, the Bethesda Home for Boys, or the Skidaway Island United Methodist Church.
