My deepest sympathies on the passing of Mrs. Clancy. She showed me many kindnesses when I was a student at SCAD away from family and friends. In the late 90's I did handyman projects to work myself through school, and Mrs. Clancy hired me many times for the odd project. The odd project soon became a warm friendship and lunch every Saturday on Tybee Island. She had a wonderful wit, and a way with a story that stays with me to this day. I can still recall the stories of her father, seeing President Roosevelt, and many many more. I've thought of her often since then, but never made it back to Savannah to see her again. My condolences to your family on the loss of such a wonderful person. Sincerely, Michael Carnahan

Ella was a good friend to me during my early years teaching at WFHS. We loved to talk about Bogota, Colombia, and she brought me some special herbs used in making the soup. I remember her saying that she could 'appreciate excellence' in most any endeavor. She had a generous heart, and I'll remember her fondly.

Please accept my sincerest condolences. Though Ella had some strong opinions I can never remember her rubbing me the wrong way. She was a voracious reader and true intellectual. She cared deeply for her family and people in general. She loved political discussions. I admired for all of these things and for her willingness to stand up for her convictions. I will miss her. Sincerely, David Lerque
