Ronald Schroeder

Ronald Schroeder
SAVANNAH- Ronald Schroeder, 75, died unexpectedly Wednesday, February 9, 2011, at Memorial Medical Center.
The Philadelphia native had lived in Savannah for the past thirty years. He and Judy divided their time between their home on the coast here and their home on the coast of Maine. He was a Yankee by birth, but a Southerner by choice.
Ron graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Forestry. He also served in the United States Navy. He retired from Georgia Pacific after a long career in land and timber procurement.
Ron was an avid outdoorsman who loved to trek through forest trails, dragged along by his loyal dogs, Edna and Daisy. When not enjoying the outdoors, Ron could be found with his favorite book, cooking a new meal, or spending time with his family. Ron will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.
Surviving are his wife, Judy Schroeder; his children, Jennifer Hill of Boulder, CO, Mark Schroeder of Boulder, CO, Brett Schroeder of North Potomac, MD, and Hillary Mclean of Charlotte, NC; a sister, Kay Williams of Philadelphia; grandchildren, Anna Maitland, Latham Hill, Camille Fowler, Simone Fowler, Maya Friedli-Schroeder, Rose Friedli-Schroeder, Kirsten Schroeder, Kevin Schroeder, Emma Mclean, and Mac Mclean. He was predeceased by a grandson, Jesse Hill.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Ron's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. today, February 12, 2011, at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers any donations be made to the American Heart Assoc., P.O. Box 15515, Savannah, GA 31416 or the Nature Conservancy, 4245 North Fairfax Drive, Suite 100, Arlington, VA 22203.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at a reception at the Plantation Club.

GUEST BOOK

Dear Judy, I was so sorry to hear of Ron's passing. I'm grateful for the many happy memories we share, but much has happened since our last times together. Life is so incredibly unpredictable at best. We'll talk soon. Take care my friend, and God Bless. Love, Eleanor

- Eleanor Roan Shurr, Savannah, GA

Dear Judy, George and I send our deepest regrets. We are thinking of you, the MacLeans and all of your family. We felt fortunate that we got to know Ron and so we are acutely aware of how much he and his gentle, pleasant ways will be missed. Love, Clyda and George
