Dwight Hamilton Davis, Jr.
September 17, 1922 - February 25, 2011
Dwight Hamilton Davis, Jr., 88, died February 25, 2011 at home. Dwight was a native of Savannah and lived here his entire life. He was employed by Southeastern Shipyard during World War II, and later employed at Western Auto from which he retired after 30 years. He was a former member of Bull Street Baptist Church, and later a longtime member of Morningside Baptist Church. As an avid photographer and picture framer, he spent much time photographing Savannah's historical sites and his family.
He is most recently preceded in death by sisters, Betty Cole and Louisa Williams, and brother, Edward Cole.
Up until his last moments he never waivered support of his family. For this and all of his unconditional love and commitment he will be lovingly remembered and missed.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Uldine Herrington Davis, son, Dwight H. Davis, III, daughters, Kim Cantillo and Eve Hunter, six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Visitation: 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, February 27, 2011 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Funeral: 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 28, 2011 in the Hodgson Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors.
Burial: Bonaventure Cemetery.
