James G. Costner

James G. Costner, age 73, passed away at Candler Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was retired as the Corporate Credit Manager of Clariant Corporation in Charlotte, North Carolina.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Nell Vannoy Costner and Glad W. Costner and his sister Rebecca C. Mauney.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Peggy H. Costner, son and daughter-in-law, Tim G and Elizabeth D. Costner, grandchildren, John Thomas and Catherine Elizabeth Costner of Savannah, Georgia.
He is also survived by sister, Nell C. Connor of Lake Wylie, South Carolina, brother Robert W. Costner and wife Joyce of Richmond, Virginia, brother Joe B. Costner and wife Delphia of Gastonia, North Carolina, brother Ray C. Costner and wife Jackie of Charlotte, North Carolina, brother T. Richard Costner and wife Betty Jo of Virginia Beach, Virginia, sister-in-law Carolyn H. Adams of Gastonia, North Carolina and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
He was formerly a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Gastonia, North Carolina and after moving to Savannah joined Isle of Hope United Methodist Church.
The family would like to thank the many doctors for their excellent car and the dedicated staff of Hospice Advantage.
Jim dearly loved his family and especially his grandchildren. They had a way of lighting up his eyes even during his sickest days. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and golfer. He loved going with friends and son to the Outer Banks of North Carolina and Myrtle Beach fishing.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Memorials be made to Isle of Hope United Methodist Green House Fund – 412 Parkersburg Road, Savannah Georgia 31406 or to Hospice Advantage of Savannah – 8111 Waters Avenue, Savannah Georgia 31406.
McLean and Son Funeral Home in Gastonia, North Carolina will be handling the funeral arrangements held later this week.
