Nancy Cole Nash

Nancy Cole Nash 89 passed away at home surrounded by her family on March 31, 2011.

Nancy was born in Savannah, Georgia on February 27, 1922 to Louis and Louise Cole. She attended local public schools. After graduating from Savannah High School, she attended Armstrong Junior College for two years and then transferred to GSWC, Georgia State Women's College, now Valdosta State, where she graduated in June of 1942. In the fall of that same year she married, the love of her life, Dearing Nash.

Nancy and Dearing were married for sixty-nine wonderful years. She was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. For twenty-five years she was a devoted volunteer, Pink Lady, at Candler Hospital where she also served as one of their presidents. Nancy was preceded in death by her son Jonathan Douglas Nash and her aunt Miss Clyde Lanier who reared her during her childhood.

She is survived by her husband Dr. Dearing A. Nash, three daughters Anne Nash, Judy Braun Don Braun, and Lynn Stone; five grand children and their spouses, Jim and Lisa Braun of Atlanta, Laura and Dr. Tony James, of Statesboro, Jonathan Stone, Ben Stone, and Emily Stone, of Savannah; and seven great grandchildren Hudson, Georgianna, Fielding, Dearing, Darden, Matthew, and Davis; a sister Juanita Potter and nephew Gordon Nash.

Private memorial services will be held at a later date.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society of Savannah or the Candler Hospital Volunteers nursing scholarship program.
