Walter Landrum New, Jr., passed away Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Memorial University Medical Center. He was born in Savannah, GA in 1957 the first child of Shirley Leech New and Walter Landy New, Sr. His paternal grandparents were Mr. and Mrs. Ira B. New, Sr. and maternal grandparents were Mr. and Mrs. Paul H. Leech.
He spent his life in Savannah, GA and enjoyed woodworking projects, outdoor activities, and spending time with his family. He was a member of First Baptist Church as a child and was an active member of Bull Street Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mae Bell, his parents, Landy and Shirley New, his brother, Steven Cubbedge New Dee Dee of Durham, NC, sister, Diane G. New, of Savannah, niece, Shaina Diane New, of Durham, NC, and stepdaughter, Julie Primer, and her son, Brandon, of Savannah. He is also survived by his uncles, Richard W. Leech Mary, and Ira B. New, Jr. Janet, cousins, Marion H. Kennickel, Jr. Rose, and several cousins.
Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 9, 2011 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.
Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2011 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel with The Rev. Calvin Fowler officiating.

Shirley, Landy, Stephen and Diane, It is with much sadness that I learned of Landy's death. Please know I am thinking of and praying for you all. I have SO many wonderful memories of the times our families spent together when we lived on the island and am grateful for those special times. I hope as you remember those times many smiles come to mind. Much love to you all.
