Savannah- Myrtle Swanson Ward, 84, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Memorial University Medical Center.
Mrs. Ward was born in Ben Hill County, Georgia on September 22, 1926 to Thomas and Myrtle Swanson. She was a crossing guard for many years with the City of Savannah. Her love for family was her first priority. She enjoyed the outdoors, nature, and her dogs. She was a born again Christian and her husband of forty five years, John D. Ward, preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, John Ward and Thomas Ward; three grandchildren, Jason Ward, Mark Ward, Christy Ward; sister, Martha Brown, all of Savannah, and brother, Howard Swanson of Fitzgerald, GA.
Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 13, 2011 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
