William A. Romeiser

SAVANNAH – William Arthur Romeiser, 89, died Tuesday, August 2, 2011, at The Oaks at The Marshes of Skidaway Island.
Bill was retired from Sun Oil Co. in Philadelphia. He and Ginny moved to Savannah in 1987 from Berwyn, PA. He was a charter member of Messiah Lutheran Church and the Kiwanis Club of Skidaway Island, and a member of The Landings Golf Club.
He received a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University and a Masters in Industrial Management from the Sloan School at MIT.
Bill served in the US Army during World War II as a 1st Lt. with the 802nd Field Artillery, was wounded in France, and received the Purple Heart and Silver Star Medals.
As a young man Bill was an Eagle Scout and he continued to be involved with scouting as an adult. He was very proud that his three sons achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and several of his grandchildren are also active in scouting.
Survivors include his devoted wife of sixty years Virginia Ginny; children Eric and wife Jennifer, David and wife Ashley, Robert and wife Heidi, and Susan Meehan and husband Brian; grandchildren Anna, Daniel, Kohl, Trevor, Kyle, Jacob, and Samuel Romeiser, Caroline, Sarah, and Emily Meehan; sister Anna Chapman; and sister-in-law Vera Congleton.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Messiah Lutheran Church on Skidaway Island.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church, One West Ridge Rd., Savannah, GA 31411 or to the Alzheimer's Association, 201 Television Circle, Savannah, GA 31406.
