TYBEE ISLAND - Mae W. DeLoach, 83, died Saturday, August 13, 2011 in Savannah, GA.
Mrs. DeLoach was born on July 13, 1928 in Bulloch County, the daughter of the late Wiseman Elijah and Recie Shuman White. She moved to Tybee Island in 1949 and was employed by the United States Postal Service, retiring as Postmaster of the Tybee Island Post Office in 1983 after 32 years of dedicated service. She was a member of Trinity Chapel United Methodist Church where she served on the Council since 1957. She was also a member of the Tybee Island Garden Club, Historical Society and the Marine Science Center.
Mrs. DeLoach was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Richard T. DeLoach. She is survived by her sons, Gordon D. DeLoach and wife Ilona of Tybee Island and Richard T. DeLoach, Jr. and wife Andrea of Atlanta, GA; brother, Titus E. White of Savannah; sisters, Naomi Page of Daisey, GA, Dollie R. Harn of Ft. Gaines, GA and Angie Davis of Pooler, GA; grandchildren, Madeline and Anna DeLoach, both of Atlanta, Kyle Rausch of Corning, NY and Deana Rausch of Savannah and great-granddaughter, Andi Rausch.
Visitation: 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Monday at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Chapel United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

I have a lot of memories of my Aunt Mae, I am so blessed that I was at Tybee a few weeks ago and visited her. She showed us her garden and her fish pond. She loved lighthouses and she loved to cross stitch. She will be missed.
