Blanche Beasley Smith

Blanche Beasley Smith, 88, passed from this life to be with Jesus October 2, 2011 at Hospice Savannah, Inc. She was born in Brooklet, GA and moved to Savannah as a teenager where she attended Savannah High School. During WW II she was a long distance telephone operator in New York. After moving back to Savannah, she met and married Bill Smith in 1951. They moved to Garden City, GA in 1954 where she was a homemaker. She was very active in her daughters' lives where she served as Brownie and Girl Scout leader and president of the PTA. She was a past president of the Garden City Garden Club and longtime member of the Canasta Club. She was also an active member of Chapel-in-the-Gardens Presbyterian Church in Garden City until she moved to Magnolia Manor in Richmond Hill, GA in 2000 where she resided until moving to the Habersham House this past March. She and Bill loved to dance and fish and after Bill's retirement, travel the world. She is predeased by husband, William H. Smith, III Bill, her parents Tom and Lorene Beasley, her brothers, Carl, Earl and Aubrey Beasley, her sisters; Gladys Jones, Mary Connor, and Bernice Burdette.

She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan Barker John of Richmond Hill and Nancy Oliver Harry of Savannah; three grandchildren; Jason Barker Angel of Buford, GA; Jessica Barker of Savannah and Joshua Barker of Richmond Hill; three great grandchildren, Alexandria Barker, Hayley Barker, and Addison Barker of Buford, GA; a sister-in-law, Thelma Beasley of Savannah and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

Funeral: 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 5, 2011 in the Hodgson Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors conducted by Dr. Glenn Martin.

Pallbearers will be Ron Aspinwall, Tommy Beasley, Jimmy Barker, Bill Dotson, Lloyd Hodges and Ronnie Strickland.

Entombment: Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
