Celebrating the life of

Linda Kay Lightsey McCorkle

Passed away on April 12, 2019

She loved unconditionally.

Linda Kay Lightsey McCorkle

Linda Kay Lightsey McCorkle, 64, of Savannah, GA went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on April 12, 2019, after a long battle with Alzheimer ’s disease. Linda was born in Savannah, GA on December 15, 1954 to Rex and Willie Mae Crosby Lightsey. She attended and graduated from Bible Baptist School. When she was a teenager, she met the love of her life, Jack M. McCorkle, Jr. They later married on August 18, 1973. They had three children, Amanda, Jamie and Jack III. In 1989, they moved their family to Visalia, California where together they helped open a new Dixie Crystals operation. Then in 1995 they returned to Savannah, GA to be with family. Linda began her new career at Riverview Health as the Admissions Director. She loved her job so much that she spent her time after work with the Alzheimer’s patients and even won an award. She also started the very first Ms. Riverview pageant and would then take the winner to the Ms. Georgia. Linda spent many years involved in the Miss Savannah Pageant as a chaperone for the young ladies that won. No one loved a pageant more than Linda! In 2007, Linda was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Her life changed forever. Jack and Jamie were her caregivers until it was physically impossible. Jack has never left her side. Linda loved life, her husband, her children, and her grandchildren. They were her world and she was the best wife and mom, she loved unconditionally. Jack and Linda’s love is a true fairytale that shows love conquers all!

She is preceded in death by her parents, Rex and Willie Mae Lightsey, father-in-law, Jack McCorkle, Sr. and her brother, Sgt. Byron Crosby. Linda and I went to Bible Baptist together. Her sweet smile would light up a room. She was pure gold. Never had a bad word for anyone. You could see God's light shining in her. The world will be a little less bright without her smile. Fly high Linda now that you have your wings.
