George S. Viteritti

George S. Viteritti, 84, died Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at his home in Savannah, GA surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Viteritti was born in Glen Cove, NY on July 28, 1927, the son of the late Salvatore Viteritti and Domenica Marie Ritacco Viteritti. At the age of 18 George enlisted and proudly served in the United States Navy. Following his military tenure he attended Mohawk College, Stewart Technical School, The Institute of the Aeronautical Sciences and other higher learning institutions where he gained the expertise and knowledge to pursue a career in Aeronautical Engineering.

Mr. Viteritti had a successful career with Grumman Aerospace Corporation in Bayville, NY and was relocated to Savannah, GA where he continued his career with Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation as Director of Engineering, ultimately retiring in 1993. He was a charter member of the Grumman Retiree Club. While living in Bayville, NY, George served as a volunteer firefighter and was very proud of the time he served as such.

Mr. Viteritti is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Lucille LaCagnato Viteritti; daughters, Karen Mazza Philip of Seaford, NY and Susan Vivona Randy of Massapequa, NY; grandchildren, Christopher and Carley Vivona and Steven Mazza and brother, John F. Viteritti Marguerite of Bayville, NY.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 28, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church with burial following at the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
