Savannah- Mary Byrd Prow, died at home Saturday, October 29, 2011.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Col. Emmett M. Prow, USAF, parents, Hubert Estes Byrd, and Sarah Bauknight Byrd; stepmother, Jessie Bauknight Byrd; brother, Hubert E. Byrd, and wife, Grace, J. Phillip Byrd, and sister-in-law, Ann Crawford Byrd, wife of surviving brother, Larry Byrd.
Mary and Emmett enjoyed his chosen vocation of the U.S. Air Force, meeting new people, making lifelong friends, and learning about different cultures. She enjoyed entertaining her friends and family and was an accomplished cook and hostess.
Mary was an avid gardener and homemaker. She enjoyed her garden club and various bridge clubs, and was active in all until her health prevented her participation. In addition, she enjoyed her membership in The Huntington Club, and the Craft Club at Calvary Baptist Temple.
A devout Christian, she supported the ministries of her church no matter where she lived throughout the world. Loyal to friends and family, she will be missed by all.
Survivors include her daughter, Jacqueline Prow Ricks Bill; son, Michael E. Prow April; grandchildren, Suzanne R. Ricks, Diane M. Ricks, and Jennifer M. Doubleday Vann; brother, Larry Byrd, and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Beaufort National Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank all the care givers from Handle with Loving Care. Special thanks go to Evelyn Hamilton, her longtime friend and housekeeper, and to Sheila Maxwell, a recent but dear family friend and care giver.

I was so sorry to hear of Mrs Prow passing as being her neihbor for the last 10 years ...she was a nice lady and had the best looking house in the neihborhood ....I tried once to keep up with her but her grass and all sirroundings were so well kept I gave up and just enjoyed her yard .....she lived a full life and now its the next step ...God Bless
