Opal Pippin Anderson

Savannah- Opal Pippin Anderson, 83, of Savannah, GA, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, November 3, 2011.
She was born in Truscott, TX, on November 16, 1927 to the late Walter and Minnie Milburn. She was united in marriage to the late John Pippin. Years after his passing, she then married the late Charles Anderson.
Opal managed several restaurants for well known chains giving her the experience needed for her and her first husband John to successfully own and operate their own restaurant in North Chattanooga, TN. After moving to Savannah, Opal began working for the Federal Government in the finance department at Hunter Army Airfield, where she would retire in 1995. For 15 years, Opal served as Treasure for NARFE The National Active and Retired Federal Employees, and because she was very patriotic and passionate about the armed forces, she would frequently volunteer at the Mighty 8th Air Force Museum.
Opal was a long time member of Bull Street Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir. She currently attended Skidaway Island United Methodist Church. She was an avid reader, enjoyed country music and traveling, taking her on many excursions across the country.
She is survived by her Son, Aubrey L. Pippin of Savannah; Stepdaughter, Charlene Steve Balmer; Three stepsons, Bruce Anderson, Wade Donna Anderson, and Lee Anderson. Four Grandchildren; Paula Cyndee Mesa Pippin of Coral Springs, FL, Thomas Lisa Pippin of, Oakland, CA, Angela Harris of Jacksonville, FL, and Robyn Scott Slater of Jacksonville, FL; and eight Great Grand Children; Devin, Damon, Ashlyn, Kaitlyn, Ryan, Desiree, Ryleigh, and Silas.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 7, 2011 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at the Hodgson Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors with Reverend Earnie Pirkle officiating. Burial will take place the following day at Chattanooga Memorial Park in Chattanooga, TN.
