Cecile Hagan Crockett
Passed away on April 12, 2019
Cecile Hagan Crockett, a lovely dignified southern bell passed away Friday, April 12, 2019 at Memorial University Medical Center after a short illness. She graduated from Screven County High School and lived most of her life in Savannah. Cecile was a former member of Epworth United Methodist Church, and a current active member of Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church. She retired after 30 years of service from Southern Bell Telephone & Telegragh Company (AT&T), where she started out as a Switchboard Operator, then eventually retired from the Marketing Department. She was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Palmer Crockett, her parents, Emmett and Veleta Williamson Hagan, her sister, Virginia Hagan Daniel and her husband Claude, and their son Howell, also her niece Shirley Walker.
Surviving are her cousins, Bettye Graham Hunter, Joan Graham Hester Byrd, Gloria Rogers Moses, Robert Bargeron, her cousin’s husband, Gordon Walker, and many other cousins and extended relatives.
Visitation will be 12:30-1:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Funeral Service will be 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Director, Hodgson Chapel officiated by her cousin, Rev. Billy Hester.
Burial will be in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park, East
The family wishes to thank, Meals on Wheels, Memorial University Medical Center E.R. Nurses and Doctors, and her caretakers, Willie, Debra, and Ben. She was also grateful for all of her family who meant so much to her.
Remembrances may be made to Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church, or Meals on Wheels of Savannah.
Cousin Cile was always a mainstay in our family. I shall always remember her as an intelligent, well-spoken, kind, pleasant person who liked to get along with everyone. She was especially kind to me in recent years when my life was at its most difficult. I admired Cile's love for her older sister, Virginia, who I feel was a second mother to her. They were extremely close and a joy to each other. Cile also loved animals and knowing that I also am an animal enthusiast, she indulged me with all of her memories of her pets (especially her dog, Lady, and her many cats and kittens in her younger years). She loved to feed the wild birds every day too. Cile knew a lot about our family history and filled me in with the facts whenever I asked. Well there's a lot I could share here as Miss Cile lived to be 94 (!) and possessed a keen mind and the ability to get around until the end so she was able to continue to make new memories each day. But I'll save the rest of our memories of Cile for other family members to share. I shall miss Cile so much. A special thanks to Cousin Wendy for all of the tender and special care she gave to Cile particularly in the last 10 yeard or so... Cile once told me that Wendy was like a daughter to her, and since Cile did not have children of her own, Wendy's daughter-like attention was a great gift to our older cousin. See you on the other side, Cousin Cecile (if I'm allowed in heaven because I know that is where you are!)...??

Ceil was truly a special lady and friend to many of us at Southern Bell. She was indeed very proud of her family and spoke of them often, especially her sister Jenna. May her family feel comfort in the memories you shared with her.
