Charles Allen Gross, Jr.

SAVANNAH – Charles Allen Gross, Jr., 83, died peacefully on Saturday, December 17, 2011, at his home under the care of Hospice Savannah, Inc.
Born November 8, 1928, he was a native and lifelong resident of Savannah. Mr. Gross retired from Strachan Shipping Co. after fifty years of service. He served in the 118th Artillery, National Guard, during the Korean War and was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Parrish Gross; two sons, Charles Allen Gross, III and his wife Sandra K. Gross, and John Parrish Gross and his wife Pamela; two daughters, Diane G. Daiss and Elizabeth V. Gross; a sister, Joan G. Wolfe; ten grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Edward R. Gross.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 19, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
The funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, December 20, 2011, in the Hodgson Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors.
