Harriette Barrett Purvis
Savannah- Harriette Barrett Purvis, 94, passed away Monday, December 19, 2011 at Buckingham South under the care of Hospice.
Mrs. Purvis was born in Savannah and was the former owner of the Savannah Letter Shop, Inc. She retired in 1989. She was a member and past President of the Altrusa Club, past President of Savannah Branch, Arthritis Foundation, past Chairman of the Women's Division of the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce, served on the Board of Directors of the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce, former member of the Mail Advertising Service Association International, former member of the Savannah Printing Industry. She was a member and past President of the Savannah Business and Professional Women's Club, served as President of the Retail Credit Managers Association, served as secretary of the Advertising Club of Savannah and was named and Honorary Lifetime Member of the club. She was an active member of the Episcopal Church Woman, and a Communicant of Saint Paul's Episcopal Church. Mrs. Purvis was preceded in death by her husband, David Atkinson Purvis.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 23, 2011 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Burial will follow in the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
