Dr. Pullabhotla  Krishnamurti

Dr. Pullabhotla Krishnamurti, 88, died Thursday, December 22, 2011 in Savannah, GA.

Dr. Krishnamurti was born in India on March 28, 1923. It was in India that he earned a degree in Veterinary Medicine. Upon arriving to the United States in 1961 he continued his formal education and earned his Masters Degree from the University of Wisconsin. Ultimately he earned his Doctor of Philosophy from Texas A&M University. Following graduation he began his career in teaching at Tuskegee Institute, where he was Professor of Microbiology for two years. He was then afforded the opportunity to instruct at Savannah State College where he taught Microbiology for twenty years. Before his retirement Dr. Krishnamurti was honored with the title of Professor Emeritus. He was one of the original members of the Indian community in Savannah. Against great odds, with tenacity, strong will and dedication to family, Dr. Kris came to the United States and provided a comfortable life for his wife and five children.

Dr. Krishnamurti was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Jyoti Krishnamurti. He is survived by his children, Swarna Krishnamurti, Madhu Krishnamurti, Butch Krishnamurti, Kiran Krishnamurti and Sridhar Krishnamurti; sisters, Bala Bharathi and Bala Sundhari; grandchildren, Lakshmi Case and Samuel and several nieces.

Services will begin at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 26, 2011 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. The family will be receiving friends beginning at 9:30 a.m.
