Clara Lois Pinckney Rowland

Clara Lois Pinckney Rowland died January 1, 2012 after a brief illness. She was born in Pinckney Colony Bluffton SC on October 20, 1930 the sixth child of Annie Hay Pinckney and Joseph Oliveros Pinckney. She graduated from St. Vincent's Academy to which she remained dedicated her entire life and was honored by St. Vincent's with the McCauley Award. A graduate of the St. Joseph's School of Nursing, Savannah in 1951 she had a life long partnership with the Sisters of Mercy and served as Staff Nurse and ultimately Nurse Night Supervisor at St. Joseph's Hospital.

She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Henry John Rowland, Jr. and Carol K. Rowland, Ralph Joseph Rowland and Lisa B. Rowland, Angie Rowland Gramlich and Christopher Gramlich, Fran Rowland Robertson and Pat Robertson; her sisters, Frances Cahill, Genevieve O'Connor and Patricia Lowenthal.

She was pre-deceased by her husband of 42 years, Henry John Rowland and her loving daughter, Mary Monica Rowland.

The family will be receiving friends Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Church. A Vigil Service will be held at 6:00 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church with burial following at Pinckney Colony Cemetery.

The family asks in lieu of flowers that donations be sent to either The Pinckney Colony Cemetery Fund, 50 Allen Corner Rd., Okatie, SC 29909 or St. Vincent's Academy, 204 East Liberty St., Savannah, GA 31401.
