Tybee Island, GA - Bruce Nolan Hodge, 86, died Friday, January 6, 2012 at his residence at Tybee Island. He was born in Dayton, Ohio son of the late, Byron T. and Edna Mae Shoemaker Hodge. He lived in Dayton for fourteen years and later moved to Saint Clair, Michigan. During World War II Bruce entered the United States Army where he was a tank crewman gunner. In 1944, Bruce married Betty, his high school sweetheart. He was an Independent Trucker for over 30 years and in 1965, Bruce and Betty moved to Winter Garden, FL where he co-owned with his son Mark Bru-Mar Foliage Nursery for 25 years. He retired in 1990 and moved to Rincon, Georgia. After Betty retired, they moved to Tybee Island where he was a member of Trinity Chapel United Methodist Church, American Legion Post No. 154, Tybee Card Club, Shriners Supper Club and the Yippies. His wife of 64 years, Betty Deanne Trolley Hodge, preceded him in death.

Surviving are his children, Mark F. Hodge, Sr. and his wife, Susan of Winter Garden, FL; Cynthia H. Gernatt and her husband, John of Richmond Hill, GA; Kim Deanne Hodge of Tybee Island, GA; Cindy A. Wilson of Tybee Island, GA; brother, Byron Hodge of Rockledge, FL; grandchildren, Mark F. Hodge, Jr. and his wife, Amy of Winter Garden, FL; Billy Hodge and his wife, Christine of Winter Garden, FL; Matthew Hodge and his wife, Paula of Winter Garden, FL; Kelly G. Martinez and her husband, Victor of Marietta, GA; six great grandchildren, Carson, Cadie, Nolan, Liliana, Walker, Collin, and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service will be 4:00 p.m., Sunday, January 8, 2012 at the Islands Chapel of Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors.
