Celebrating the life of
Kathleen Baty Hodges
January 29, 1927 - January 23, 2012
Kathleen Baty Hodges of Savannah, Georgia, wife of the late Dr. Cecil A. Hodges, for sixty-seven years, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 23, 2012 at Savannah Square under the care of Hospice Savannah, Inc.
Born in Jacksonville, Florida, on January 29, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Comer and Catherine Baty. She is survived by one sister, Dorothy Miller, of Glen St. Mary's, Florida; one daughter and son-in-law, Margie and Herman Mongin of Savannah, Georgia; two grandchildren: Melissa Haney husband, Brent, and their children: Austen, Kaylah, Gabrielle, Aaliyah, and Zechariah of Lugoff, South Carolina; David Mongin wife, Danielle, and their children: Isabella, Vivianna, and Adelaide of Atlanta, Georgia and many nieces and nephews.
Over forty years, Mrs. Hodges Kitty was the "first-lady" of Bible Baptist Church, Savannah, Georgia. She was a Sunday school teacher, taught many ladies' seminars, worked in the Church office doing whatever was needed during her husband's pastorate. As her husband once wrote of her: "God has enabled you to become an example to others because of your loving and generous spirit."
Even into her twilight years, she was known as a "special lady." Mrs. Hodges lived her life in the service of others and above all, the Lord. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Nana, as she was known, was loved deeply and will be truly missed. It is with great sorrow that we mourn our loss, but through her faith, we rejoice as we give this servant back to the Lord.
The family wishes to express deep appreciation to Dr. M.A. Masroor, and his staff for their devotion to Mrs. Hodges for many years. Also, to the staff at Savannah Square "thank you" for making my mother's stay so enjoyable. She truly loved you. Also, to the staff of Hospice Savannah, Inc., thank you for your wonderful care of Mrs. Hodges.
Funeral: 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Bible Baptist Church, 4700 Skidaway Road, Savannah, Georgia. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at the Church. Burial will be private.
Remembrances: Bible Baptist Church Children's Building Fund, 4700 Skidaway Road, Savannah, Georgia 31404 or Hospice Savannah, Inc., P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, Georgia 31416.

Margie and Herman, Will always have beautiful thoughts and memories of Mrs. Hodges. She always knew exactly the words to say to encourage me and to make me accountable for my shortcomings. I loved her and will never forget the lessons. I learned from just knowing her. A truly Christian lady. I was saved 51 plus years ago under Bro. Hodges and her ministry and my desire to serve the Lord was taught to me by them. Praise the Lord for their lives by example. Watched you grow to be the beautiful lady you are today. Thanks! Love you, Ann Fields.

Dear Margie, My heart goes out to you at this time. You know they are getting ready to pass on but once it happens , it is bittersweet. So many memories flood your mind of the wonderful years the Lord allowed us to be a part of their lives. I remember as a kid going to Bible Baptist on Waters Ave. You were playing the piano and Bonnie sang in the choir. Mrs. Hodges and Pastor Hodges were so kind and were there for my family through thick and thin. Then Dewey and I were married in the first facility built on Skidaway Rd. I still have my cards Mrs. Hodges gave me when Dewey and Becky were born. They are in my Baby books. I was just looking at them last night. Don't you know they are having a celebration in Heaven and to know we will see them again makes it all the more worth while. May God give you the peace that is so needed at this time. It was good seeing you at Dewey's funeral. My thoughts and Prayers are with you at this time.
- Colleen Grantham, Barnesville, GA

Dearest Margie and Family, Words cannot express how sorry we are to learn of Ms. Kitty's passing. She was the greatest pastors wife I have ever known. They came to Rincon in 1999 and we served with them for 6 yrs. She was such an example to the ladies ,so gracious,so spiritual and yet sometimes so funny. She had a great sense of humor. As she called Bro Hodges 'Daddy' she always knew when he meant business. She was a beautiful lady and always dressed as a pastors wife should. Never a hair out of place. She was loved by all at Effingham Baptist Church and she loved back also. I Know she is happy to be with her beloved husband Cecil. I know you will miss her terribly , but knowing she isn't suffering anymore that gives you peace. Her passing is our loss but Heavens gain. Deepest Sympathy to you all. In Christian Love Christine and Sarah Davis

Dear grieving family, My wife and I are very sorry for your tremendous loss and would like to express our condolences to the entire family. We cannot imagine the great pain and sorrow you are experiencing during this most difficult time. When we lose someone we love so dearly we are left with a very strong desire to see that person again. It's wonderful to know that God has promised we will see our loved ones who have fallen asleep in death. John chapter 5 verses 28 and 29 gives this wonderful reassurance: 'Do not marvel at this because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life.' What a marvelous hope! Once again we wish to express our condolences for your loss. And although we cannot erase the pain and sorrow you are experiencing, it is our hope that this can give you a small measure of comfort.

There are no words to fully express how grateful I am that God brought Mrs. Hodges into my life. She radiated the love of Christ, and she touched my family with that love. She was the personification of grace, and the epitome of what a pastor's wife should be. She is my spiritual Mom, and I will never forget her kindness to Susie and I. Though I will miss her greatly, I rejoice that she has been set free and was greeted by her Lord and a host of people whose lives she influenced. I know Pastor Hodges was glad to welcome her home! Susie and I send our love to all of the family.
