Edna Helmey Girard

Edna Helmey Girard, 99, died Wednesday, January 25, 2012 in Hueytown, AL.
Mrs. Girard was born March 28, 1912 in Marlow, GA and lived most of her life in Savannah. She was a member of Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Girard was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Edward Henry Girard, Jr. and five sisters and two brothers. She is survived by a son, Edward Henry Girard, III Lyndell of Atlanta and a daughter, Jeannine Girard Boggs of Birmingham, AL, five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel on Monday at 10:00 a.m. with burial following in the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
My first memories of Aunt Edna are in the early 1950s when my family would go from Macon to Savannah for a visit. She always made me feel welcome every time I visited. After getting married, she not only made me feel welcome but also Reta to include our last visit with her in 1998. We will miss her.
