Gert Hans Weisemann
October 22, 1918 - January 31, 2012
Gert Hans Weisemann, 93, died January 31, 2012 at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born in Dresden, Germany, son of Paul and Hadwig Loos Weisemann. He moved to the United States in 1925 where his family settled in New York. He attended local schools in Baldwin, Long Island and graduated from Brooklyn Poly Technical Institute and Iowa State University with a degree in chemical engineering. After graduation, he joined Standard Oil of Indiana in Whiting, Indiana, holding the positions of Vice President of Polymer Products, President of Amoco Fabrics and President of Amoco Foam. During his tenure, he was assigned in Japan and Glen Ellyn, Illinois retiring after 39 years of service. He was a founding member of Messiah Lutheran Church and active in the Boy Scouts of America. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Lt. Col. Heinz Weisemann.
Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Marguerite G. Weisemann of Savannah; daughter, Dr. Jane M. Weisemann of Brunswick, MD; sons, Rev. Paul M. Weisemann and his wife, Debbie and their children, Shannon Lee Weisemann and Timothy Paul Weisemann of Tampa, FL; William J. Weisemann and his wife, Jane H. and their children, Elizabeth Weisemann, Daniel P. Weisemann and Katherine M. Weisemann of Spring, TX.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Messiah Lutheran Church, conducted by The Rev. Dr. Dean B. Jeanblanc. A reception will be held following the service in the church fellowship hall.
