SAVANNAH - Elizabeth Cannon Barre, 92, widow of the late Jesse Willard Barre, died Thursday, February 16, 2012, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
The Tattnall County native moved at a young age with her family to Lexington County, SC and came to Savannah in 1943. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class. She retired from Belk of Savannah after 36 years.
Surviving are two sons, John David Barre of Pooler and Jerry W. Barre Cathie of Snellville, GA; three daughters, Martha Barre Smith John of Pooler, Anne Barre Thomas of Statesboro, and Susan Barre Griffin Don of Mt. Airy, GA; two sisters, Mary Cannon Brown of Lexington,
SC and Betty Cannon Rogers of Youngsville, NC; a brother, Ray Cannon of Kannapolis, NC; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, February 20, 2012, at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests remembrances to Immanuel Baptist Church Building Fund, 7375 Hodgson Memorial Dr., Savannah, GA 31406 or Hospice Savannah, Inc., P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416.
