Tybee Island- Gwendolyn Findley, 84, died Tuesday, April 03, 2012 at her home under the care of Hospice Savannah.
Gwen was born March 5, 1928 in Holly Springs, Arkansas to Johnnie and Minnie Lee Williams. In 1942 she moved to Savannah where she and her late husband owned and operated Masury Paint Center. She was a communicant of St. Michael's Catholic Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James "Buddy" Findley; step-father, Benjamin Blom; niece, Dorcia Lee Williams.
Survivors include her sister, Frances Clanton Jack; brothers, Charles Williams Woodie, John W. Williams Marie; sisters-in-law, Ernestine Forbes, Patricia Hewett, Josephine Nasworthy Ray, Frances Jacobs David; brothers-in-law, Billy Findley, Burt Smith; very special and loyal friends, Adele & Lou Archangel, Melissa Swanson, Michelle & Trinia, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 4, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a vigil service scheduled at 6:30 p.m. at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.
The Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 5, 2012 at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Pallbearers will be David Jacobs, Jr., Anthony Hewett, Johnny Williams, Tucker Williams, Dale Lepisto, Gary Woodard, Ellis Woodard and Roy Woodard. Honorary Pallbearers will be Billy Findley, Phillip Edwards and Lou Archangel. Burial will follow at the Catholic Cemetery.
