GUEST BOOK

‘Rage, rage against the dying of the light.” Bob would have appreciated Dylan Thomas’ words. We taught at the best times at Armstrong. I will always remember Bob fondly and the wonderful times we spent on the Armstrong campus. One more of the old guard gone. JENNY (RAMSEY) White.

- Virginia White, Savannah, Ga

I’ve never stopped appreciating all that Dr. Strozier taught me at Armstrong 1968-70 with such pure love for the written word and a great deal of humor. I’m so blessed to have been a student in several of his classes. He was loved by all who knew him. RIP -

- Tinka Downing Pace, Savannah , GA

We knew Dr. Strozier at Armstrong and in the Poetry Society of Georgia, and will remember him with fondness and respect. I will forever appreciate his encouraging critiques of my poetry. Sincerely, Carolyn

- Carolyn Woods Usher Oxenrider, Savannah, GA

Bob Strozier was one of my favorite professors at Armstrong (attended during the 1980s). Though it was long ago, I remember him well and fondly. He was just brilliant, witty and warm. A great teacher and human being. My sincere condolences to the family.

- Deborah M Westbrooke, Hinesville, GA

Sending prayers and thoughts to Dr. Strozier's family at this time of sadness. Dr. Strozier was my teacher and mentor back in the day (Armstrong Class of 1987). I appreciate all that he taught me about great literature and poetry. I carry a great love for words to this day due in great part to him. He was kind and generous with his time and advice when I was a student and also in the years after graduation. He encouraged me to "find my voice" and for that I am grateful and will remember him always.

- Tracie Gallaher Tinghitella, Sopchoppy, FL

The best English professor role model ever---in love with the written word and very kind and encouraging to all students who shared that affinity...also patient (with regular doses of humor and wit) with those who could/would not appreciate great literature or the crafting of words. He quite obviously enjoyed his profession, and English majors delighted in his classes.

- Dana Goodman, retired English teacher, Richmond Hill, GA

Dr. Robert Sttozier, was a great English professor at Armstong State. I thought a lot of Dr. Strozier. We worked in several plays. Bob helped me in so many ways. I know one day, I will see Bob again in Heaven. I look forward to seeing him again. Our prayers go out to the family at this time of great loss. Thank you, Bob.

- Dr. J Thomas Maddox, Naples, FL

Some of my best college memories are Dr Syrozier's English classes..literature. I used every elective there. And we loved it when we got his off the subject! I cant still hear him saying g "let me digress a minute here." I'm so sorry for your loss..and our loss as well..any of his students.

- Sandy chavers white, Savannah, GEORGIA

Oh, the mischief and shenanigans Bob and I got into! There are so many stories. I will sit down this weekend and put a few of them into words. In the meantime, please know that Jim and I hold the family close in heart, mind, and prayer. I treasure the time I worked for and with him at Armstrong and the rich friendship that grew from that relationship. My life--and my writing--are better for having known him.

- Lauretta Hannon, Powder Springs , GA

Memory Eternal Dr. Strozier! He introduced me to some great Southern Writers in my Armstrong English class.

- Nikki Palamiotis, Woodstock, GA

On quiet afternoons Bob would sometimes join us in the Writing Center to talk passionately about a poem he'd just reread--or written. That was more than 30 years ago, yet I can still hear his commanding voice. Quite simply Bob was the most influential person in my professional life, and any attempt to express my gratitude, respect, and affection would be sorely inadequate.

- Dick Nordquist, Savannah, GA

My sympathies on the passing of your love on. Be encouraged in your hour of bereavement

- Dianne Miller, Nassau, Bahamas,

I am so sorry that Dr. Strozier-like Huck Finn- has "lit out for the territory." He was an Armstrong legend. He was always eager to expound, quick to appreciate and full of enthusiasm for American literature. I remember him with much gratitude and hope he is now conversing with his favorite authors above.

- Beth Madison Collins, Savannah, Ga

Dr. Strozier was one of my favourite professors. He had an alarmingly quick wit and a brilliant laugh. I remember well when he wore his Stetson on campus and we called him "Cowboy Bob". He was one in a million and I will forever remember him with fondness. Terri ASC Class of '83

- Terri Brown Patillo ASC Class of 83, SAVANNAH, GA

Dr. Strozier was a great professor and role model to me many years ago, and even after I had graduated, he used to ask after me to my dad. Now I am professor too, and I will always remember what I learned from him. My sincere sympathy for your loss.

- Joy Cafiero Syring, St. Leonard, MD

As writer, teacher, leader, innovator, speaker, friend, and maker of opportunity for so many others, Bob Strozier was an inspiring example. Thirty-seven years after my first day as his student, he continues to touch my life each day. There are not words enough to express my gratitude.

I am so saddened to read of Bob's passing last year. I knew him through SCETC--the Southeast Conference on English in the Two-Year College, which became TYCA--SE--the Two-Year College English Association--Southeast. Bob attended regularly and was always such a joy, with his limericks and his erudition. Through him, I was able to bring my Flannery O'Connor show to Savannah several times, where I had the pleasure of meeting Helen, his charming wife. He also gave a special tour of the O'Connor House to my mother, my aunt, and two of their friends on a trip to Savannah. His white suit, cowboy boots, and hat, plus the gardenia corsages he brought them, charmed them beyond measure. He was a gentleman, a scholar, and a character, to boot. My condolences to the family.
