Celebrating the life of

Robert C. Eaton, Sr.

November 30, 1920 - April 17, 2012

Robert C. Eaton, Sr.

Robert C "Bob" Eaton

Savannah – Bob Eaton, 91, died peacefully Tuesday evening at Hospice Savannah.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Aquilla "Kitty" Eaton, and his firstborn daughter Barbara Eaton Pope. Bob leaves behind two children, Judy Tuten John of Hendersonville, NC, and Chuck Eaton Lynn of Tybee Island, five grandchildren, Wendy Stanley, Jeff, Keith Homburger, Jeff Morse, Joel Eaton, Emily and Jesse Tuten, and three great-grandsons, Sam Eaton, Andrew Eaton, and Calvin Eaton.

A native of Jacksonville FL, Bob grew up in Maryland. He graduated from Bel Air Maryland High school in 1936. His family moved to Omega, GA shortly after he graduated. He married Kitty before deploying to the South Pacific during WWII. He served with the 68th Medical Depot on Guadalcanal, and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He met his three-year-old daughter Barbara at war's end, and soon the Eatons made their home in Savannah.

Bob retired as Service Manager from Tri-State Tractor Co in Savannah. He was recognized by International Harvester for his accomplishments and innovative problem-solving skills. Bob loved and enjoyed succeeding at his work. After retiring, he and Kitty moved to the mountains near Leicester NC. They relocated back to Savannah's flat country a decade later.

He cherished his freedom, and believed that honest work and resourcefulness are keys to security and success. He loved boating, travelling, and the outdoors, but most of all spending time with family. His family will miss him sorely, but Bob leaves behind a treasure of memories that will bring smiles and laughter for years to come.

Bob was an active member of Grace Church of the Islands, and enjoyed fellowship with his church. The family wants to thank his friends from Grace Church for their support during Bob's illness. It is easy to see why he loved his Church.

GUEST BOOK

Dear Chuck and Lynn, What a admirable legacy your Dad has left behind. He is now in his glory days and I hope to get a hug someday. Just ran across his phone number tonight and then got the news through Pam Ricks. I know you will miss him dearly as I do my mom. I'm starting to understand what they felt as they talked of those preceding us. Love, Brenda and family
