Savannah- Ronald V. Belanger, 65, died suddenly Monday, May 7, 2012 at Memorial University Medical Center.
He was born in Lowell, MA, a graduate of Lowell High School and attended University of Massachutes at Lowell for a period of time. He lived and worked the majority of his life in New England. Ron served in the U.S. Air Force as a Sergeant with the Rescue and Recovery Squad. He moved to Savannah fifteen years ago and was very active in various community projects. He was a Superintendent of Maintenance with the Solid Waste Section of the Chatham County Department of Public Works and Park Services. Ron was an avid golfer and over his life time, he was a member of various American Legion Posts, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Knights of Columbus-5588 Golf Blitz.
Survivors include his son, Christopher R. Belanger, daughter-in-law, Donna, their children, Cassie & Jake of Manchester, NH; longtime companion, Dottie Hanson and her family of Savannah; former wife, Patricia Belanger Allen of NH, and many nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
A Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 11, 2012 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Burial will take place at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery on a date to be determined.
