Ernest "Brooks" Haymans
Ernest Brooks Haymans, 78, died Thursday, June 7, 2012 at Candler Hospital. He was born August 2, 1933 to the late Joseph and Iris Haymans. Brooks attended Armstrong Junior College and was retired from Savannah Electric and Power Company. He was owner and operator of Haymans Electric and was an avid Georgia Bulldog Fan, as well as a Nascar fan. He was also a member and Business Agent for the Local 1208 of the AFL-CIO. He was owner of The Other End Tavern and co-owner of Cleves now Coaches Corner. He loved boating and camping with his children when they were young and spending time at Tybee surrounded by friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ernest Edwin Haymans.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Marie S. Haymans, of Richmond Hill, six children, Richard Haymans and his wife, Pamela, Tamra Haymans-Benedict and her husband Robert, Larry Haymans and his wife Cathy, Audrey Messex and her husband Jimmy, Janet Poteralski and her husband Paul, and Toby Thomas and his wife Wendy. Also surviving are his brother, Robert Haymans, sister, Mary Lois Stafford, twelve grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 11, 2012 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.
Graveside Service will be 1:30 p.m., Monday, June 11, 2012 at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Remembrances may be made to the Leukemia Society, 3715 Northside Parkway, Bldg. 400, Atlanta, GA 30327.
