Norene Chamberlin Franz

Norene Chamberlin Franz passed away on June 13, 2012 while residing at Bryan County Health and Rehabilitation Center, Richmond Hill, Georgia. She had been under the care of Hospice Savannah since January 2012. Mrs. Franz was born in Kendall, Michigan August 3, 1916 to Vernon R. Chamberlin and Clara Weber Chamberlin. She was a graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School. She was a housewife and avid golfer. She won many tournaments while a member of the Otwellegan Country Club in Plainwell, Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband of 55 years Paul W. Franz. Paul and Norene lived in Allegan, Michigan until they retired and moved to Port Charlotte, Florida where they enjoyed golfing and world travel. Norene moved to Savannah in 1999 and attended Christ Church Anglican.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Alan Chamberlin, Lewis Chamberlin and Clare Chamberlin and sister Patricia Chamberlin McGlinsey.
Norene is survived by her devoted son Robert W. Franz and daughter-in-law Theresa Madore Franz, two granddaughters Deanne Franz Dwyer and husband Patrick J. Dwyer, and Kristin Franz Thompson and husband Mark A. Thompson. She had five great-granddaughters Kaitlin Dwyer, Paige Dwyer and Cameron Dwyer, Elena Thompson and Alexa Thompson. Norene has one surviving sister Elaine Barrett and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 1:00 PM at St. Andrews Reformed Episcopal Church, 608 Hampton Street, Savannah, Georgia.
The family requests donations to Christ Church Anglican Building Fund or Hospice Savannah in lieu of flowers.
