Savannah, GA – C. Duncan Blake, age 97, died Monday, July 23, 2012. The Nashville, TN native moved with his family to Jacksonville, FL in 1927, then to Atlanta, where he attended Emory and Druid Hills High Schools. He graduated from High School in 1932 in New Orleans, LA and then attended LSU, graduating in 1936. He taught at the School of Engineering at LSU for six years and later received a Master's degree in Forestry. He worked as a District Forester in Meridian, MS and was a pioneer in the early aeronautical industry before moving to Savannah in 1952 with Union Bag Co. as an industrial engineer. He retired from Union Camp Corp. in 1976. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a former member of St. John's Episcopal Church and Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nettie Mae Schoenbrodt Blake.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret Scarborough Blake of Savannah, GA; a daughter, Mary Vaughn Blake of Holyoke, MA; a brother, Charles L. Blake of Lake San Marcos, CA; stepsons, William W. Scarborough of Washington, DC, Robert Scarborough and Thomas Scarborough and wife Valerie, all of Statesboro, GA; 4 step-grandchildren and a nephew, Scott Schoenbrodt and wife Bertie.

Duncan was truly a southern gentleman who was so kind and unselfish and deeply loved his family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. William Shelburne, Sr. officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Burial will be private.
