Betty Jean Sweat Caldwell, 74, died Friday, July 27, 2012 at her residence. She was born in Waycross, Georgia, daughter of Artis and Kathleen Rhodenberry Sweat. Mrs. Caldwell has lived in Savannah for 45 years where she was a homemaker and a longtime member of Savannah Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Elwyn Doyle Caldwell.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Steven D. and Amy Caldwell of Easley, South Carolina; granddaughter, Shannon Caldwell of Pooler, Georgia; nieces, Kay Garletts and her husband, D.L. of Stilson, Georgia; Candy Johnson and her husband, Jerry of Orlando, Florida and nephew, Jay Pruitt of Orlando, Florida.
Funeral: 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at Savannah Christian Church. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. prior to the service.
Burial: The Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.

Betty will surely be missed by many. She taught Sunday school to our senior high group in her den many years ago. I will always remember her with a tab drink in her hand back then. She was always happy and positive. Steven, your mom and dad were wonderful people loved by many.
