Pooler- Henry Addison Werking, Jr., 74, dedicated husband of Ada Smith Werking died Monday, August 6, 2012 at Hospice House.

Mr. Werking was born on June 21, 1936, the beloved youngest child of Henry A. and Louise M. Werking. A native of Indianapolis, Indiana, he began selling newspapers on the street corner when he was 6, and had his own route by the time he was 8. He was a 1956 graduate of Arsenal Technical High School and held a B.S. degree in Printing Management from Rochester Institute of Technology 1961.

A naturally gifted leader, planner, and problem solver, Henry rose to Director of Manufacturing at American Can before purchasing Convention Press in Jacksonville, FL in 1974. Working with partner Dennis Russell, Henry grew this business into the largest web press in northeast Florida and ultimately retired in 1994.

After moving to the Savannah area in 2003, Henry and Ada enjoyed being the owner/operators of The Monogram Place until 2011 when Henry's health declined.

Henry was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

In his personal life, he loved watching NASCAR, PGA, NFL and NBA games, and especially any team coached by Steve Spurrier. He also enjoyed singing along with the player piano.

In addition to his wife Ada, Henry is survived by daughter, Jackie Waggoner Kevin and two handsome grandsons, Matthew and Jeremy, all of Indianapolis; son, Henry A. Werking, III of Jacksonville, FL; nephew, Randy Goodwin Michelle of Ft. Worth TX; Ada's son, Nathan Cutler Mirka of Prague, Czech Republic; Ada's daughter, Claire Eden Carlton and their three beautiful girls, Maren, Juliet, and Kensington of Atlanta, GA; and also by honorary grandchildren, Shavar Robinson and Schiesha Thompson of Savannah, and Dennis and Sally Russell.

The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, August 9, 2012 from 4:00 p.m.to 6:00 p.m. at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

A graveside funeral service will take place in Indianapolis at a later date.

Mr. Werking is my Great Uncle. I remember my father, Robert Goodwin Henry's nephew, taking me to visit Uncle Henry when I was 11. Uncle Henry was running the printing press near Jacksonville, Florida. My sincerest condolences to the family.
