Shirley E. Brodley died Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Hospice Savannah. She was born in Summit, New Jersey to Harry and Erla Engleman. She was a graduate of Summit High School and Syracuse University with a degree in Fine Arts. After marrying her high school sweetheart, George, she began teaching elementary school in New Jersey, retiring after 30 years of service, and then moved to Savannah with her husband.
Shirley was an active member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Ascension. She was an avid traveler, and a talented artist. Her love of art and music lead her to many years of volunteer work at Memorial Hospital, Hesse School, and Marsh View Senior Living. She will be remembered mainly for being a loving mother, wife, grandmother, and friend.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, George, and her brother, Robert. She is survived by her son, Scott, her daughter, Beth, and her granddaughters, Casey, Jessica, and Sarah.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Ascension, 120 Bull Street, Savannah.
