Jack Leroy Idleman

Jack Leroy Idleman
Jack Leroy Idleman, 87, of Savannah, Georgia, husband of Mary Lorraine Idleman, died peacefully Saturday morning, September 1, 2012 at his home. Born in Independence, Kansas, he was the son of the late Charles Lee Idleman and Hazel Adelle McCoy. Jack was a Lieutenant in the Navy, serving honorably as an aircraft carrier pilot during World War II and the Korean War. After his service ended, he completed his studies at the University of Missouri with a degree in Chemical Engineering, and enjoyed a successful career with Union Camp Corporation as a Quality Control Process Engineer. Prior to moving his membership to Trinity Lutheran Church later in life, Jack was an active member of First Christian Church, serving as a deacon and working with the youth groups. A gentle man of high integrity, he was dedicated to loving and providing for his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Cheryl Idleman Kingsley, and a brother, Charles R. Idleman. Besides his loving wife of 66 years, Jack is survived by his son Scott Idleman and his wife Sandi, of Savannah, Georgia; brother, Larry L. Idleman of Bella Vista, Arkansas; sister, Bonnie L. Chapter of Independence, Kansas; and son-in-law, Richard Kingsley of Denver, Colorado. A memorial service will be held in Savannah at Trinity Lutheran Church, 12391 Mercy Blvd, 31419, on Saturday, September 8 at 11:00 a.m., Pastor John Hopkins officiating. Visitation, at 10:00 a.m., will be at the church preceding the service. Those wishing to make donations in lieu of flowers may contribute to the Trinity Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or the American Cancer Society. The family wishes to extend their sincere and heartfelt thanks to their church and friends who have supported them through this difficult time; devoted caregivers Sheila, Brandy, and Gloria; and thoughtful and caring neighbors Elaine and Kenny.

GUEST BOOK

Dear Scott, Sandi, and family, 'Precious in the eyes of the Lord is the death of his saints.' Ps 116:15. I read with pleasure your Dad's obituary. His honorable service to our Lord, to his country, to his work and to his family came through loudly and clearly. I hope that despite the feelings of loss, you are also celebrating his 'homecoming.' I was really sorry to have missed his funeral today. I'm sure that Pastor Hopkins made it a celebratory though solemn event with that wonderful reminder that you will see him again--what comfort that is!
