Doris Newton Hughes

Doris Newton Hughes of Savannah, Georgia, widow of Paul Eugene Hughes passed away on November 8, 2012, peacefully in her home.
Born in Sardis, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late George Edwin Newton Sr. and Marie Eleanor Newton.
Doris retired from the Southern States Fertilizer Company after over twenty years of service.
She was a member of the Geechee Goofers Square Dance Group for several years and that was definitely a joy in her life. She was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.
Surviving are her two sons, Paul Eugene Hughes Jr. and his wife Brenda Lee Hughes and Kenneth Newton Hughes and his wife Adele Candice Hughes; four grandchildren, Amy Suzanne Cosby, Tiffany Nicole Flanders and her husband Matthew Flanders, Paul E. Hughes III and Jeremy Hughes; two great-grandchildren, Katelyn Flanders and Conner Flanders; two brothers, George Edwin Newton Jr. and James W. Newton; a sister, Patsy Wilson and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and family from 2: 00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon, November 11, 2012 at the Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 12, 2012 at the Wilmington Island Presbyterian Church with burial following at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
