Graham "Gene" Phillips, Sr.

SAVANNAH - Graham "Gene" Phillips, Sr. 71 died December 12, 2012 under the care of Hospice of Atlanta. He was born August 17, 1941 in Soperton, GA the son of the late Graham Phillips and Gussie Lee McVey Miller.

Gene grew up in Savannah, Georgia and graduated from Savannah High where he met his high school sweetheart and future wife the late Clair Goslee Phillips.

Gene and Clair married in 1961 and moved to Clemson where he attended Clemson University. In 1965, Gene moved to Greenville, SC where "Graham" Gene Phillips, Jr. and Ashley Lynne Phillips Brett were born and raised. Gene was an avid and adept fisherman, pilot, boat captain and business owner. He enjoyed time with family, computers and electronics, spending time on the water and loved the music of Johnny Cash.

Surviving are his step-father John Miller of Savannah; his son and daughter-in-law Peri and Graham Gene Phillips, Jr. of Atlanta; his daughter and son-in-law Ashley Lynne and Paul Brett of Simpsonville, SC; his step-sister Sue Moreci and step-brother Richard Miller both of New Orleans, LA; grandchildren Grayson Graham and Ian Parker Phillips of Atlanta; Emma Lynne and Ethan William Brett of Simpsonville, SC; six nieces and nephews and three grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

A graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Saturday, December 15 at 11am.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, remembrances be made in Gene's memory to the Press On to CURE Childhood Cancer fund at www.pressonfund.org or by check made out to: Press On. Mail to: 1356 North Decatur Road, Atlanta, GA 30306.

May the fish be running, the shrimp jumping and memories never ending.
